So, we put off the political confrontation for a couple of decades or so. Insofar as climate goes, the score is now, as it was then: pollution 1, civilization 0 and there will be no overtime.

for a relative handful of the world's most wealthy and powerful to survive the worst of 21st century climate change, not so much for the vast majority of humanity.

If people believe illegal or for that matter legal immigration to be bad now, shit is about to get whole lot worse.

Thus able to run toward better conditions, those people will perhaps experience the challenge of reinventing agriculture in places where 30,000 years of knowledge will have very little use. Feeding a community is not the domain of theoretical scientists. John Deere tractors will not be suitable for preparing seed beds on rocky northern Canadian soils.
