Officials Wanted Trump To Publicly Threaten Bill Barr For Denying Election Was Stolen - Ring of Fire

According to information released by the January 6th Committee last week, the Trump administration had drafted a memo that was set to be released on social media claiming that anyone in the administration who denied the 2020 election was stolen should be fired immediately. The memo didn't call out Bill Barr by name, but interviews with officials made it clear that he was the target. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what happened.

According to transcripts released by the January 6th select committee. Late last week, members of the Trump administration wanted to put the heat on. Then Attorney General William Barr, who of course had come out already and said, no, there wasn't massive fraud. Know the election wasn't stolen, Biden won. Trump lost. That's the end of it. My DOJ is not going to be looking into this. And as we all know, that made Donald Trump exceptionally angry. And so all the people around Trump who wanted to remain in power also got very angry. So here's what happened In a deposition with White House Council, pat Sip Cini told the story, and this was corroborated by Cassidy Hutchinson during part of her testimony that AIDS close to Donald Trump drafted a memo. And the memo ended with a line that many believe was a threat. And that line was this. Anybody that thinks there wasn't massive fraud in 2020 election should be fired.

They were going to send this memo out according to the depositions on social media. Now, it doesn't specifically say whose social media account this was gonna be released on, but I think given the circumstances, it was most likely going to be sent out through Donald Trump's own personal Twitter account. And what they were trying to do was put the pressure on Bill Barr trying to not just put the administrative pressure on him, but the public pressure as well. They wanted their people, I firmly believe, to go after Bill Barr Bar. Luckily, Mark Meadows aid, Cassidy Hutchinson was handed this memo handwritten from Mark Meadows himself. And Meadows said, go take it to Cini. See what he says? He's the White House counsel, right? He's our legal counsel. You know, let's have him comb through it, see if we need to change anything, see if he's even good with us posting this.

To which, when Hutchinson brought him the memo, Cini reportedly responded with, oh God no, just that God, no, you cannot send this out on social media. So of course, they did not send this threat to Bill Barr out on social media. Now, BARR was not actually mentioned in the memo. Okay? I do think that's important to point out, but it's very clear and obvious who they were targeting. A lot of their plans for what they wanted to do with overturning the election, hinged on whether or not they could get the DOJ then under the guidance of Bill Barr to cooperate with them and do what they needed them to do. Bill Barr had made it clear that he wasn't gonna do that. And of course, he ended up resigning before things really hit the fan in late December and early January. And then of course, Trump appointed his people to the

DOJ thought maybe they could get it done, but there was enough pushback to prevent that from actually happening. But this once again underscores how close we came. It shows us that we had an administration that was willing to do whatever they had to do, legal or not to pressure those around them to go out there and overturn these election results. You replace one or two characters involved in this with somebody else, more competent, maybe a more competent yes man for Donald Trump. And things definitely would've turned out a hell of a lot differently, and not in a good way for the United States.
