Out With the Old... - Mark Fiore - Political Cartoons

It has been, as they say, a year. While some undoubtedly good things happened in 2022, we’re still paying for the sins of systemic racism, plutocracy and Trumpism. (And of course, all three of those things often roll into one big toxic ball.)

Along the way we fight over the social media toys of a multi-billionaire and struggle to protect a democracy that is much more fragile than we used to think.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. Thankfully Covid was much less of an issue in 2022, Alex Jones is getting taken to the cleaners and a ridiculous white nationalist (who accidentally shot his own eye out) lost in court.

Here’s to an even better 2023, now let’s leave all those those losers in the past once and for all. Happy New Year!

1. January 1st has always been a poor choice for a New Year's Day

Because that day - I kid you not - the Fascist star (Facies) is aligned with the Sun.

Facies promotes violence, sickness, accidents; but also war, cold-heartedness, combativeness - as well as gambling, fixation on glamour, and (of course) self-serving and disingenuous charitable works.

In other words, it's basically the Trump star.

Not exactly the star you want to ring in the new year - or anything - with.

Could it be that western culture actually chose January 1st as New Year's Day for that reason?

Who's to say.

2. Yikes! Interesting observation and question

And, of course, here in the Northeast, the weather is generally very cold and uncertain. It's not necessarily an optimistic time when we're supposed to be looking forward with optimism, a new start...

3. I'd like to think it might explain a lot - though, of course, who's to say

Sadly, two inauspicious stars will be rising over the U.S. at the moment of New Year's - though well-aspected, fortunately.

Be open to unusual opportunities, focus on self-improvement (a good year for resolutions, for a change), and beware sentimental misjudgments.

Secrets may come out more often than normally.

That's just in general - individual influences will vary greatly.

All this, of course, with a grain of salt.

4. I'm just hoping that TFG's luck continues to change for the worse, for the sake of the country

And, thus, for the rest of us. It's been a stressful and uncertain few years, scary stuff. And of course I'm also hoping that my personal luck will improve, I lost both of my pets in the second half of the year and it's tough to get used to.

5. Well you'll be happy to know (as anyone patriotic) that YES, it should be a tough year for Cheeto

Pluto (which governs subtle power, deep change and secrets) will - as it has for the last couple of years - continue to oppose his Saturn (restrictions and hard lessons).

Neptune (mysteries and illusion) - also as it has for the last couple of years - will be squaring (elbowing) his Sun (personality and health).

The harder he'll try to get his way, the more it'll backfire. He'll reach for easy fixes - and only dig himself in deeper.

Saturn in Aquarius (threat of bad press!) will be in exact opposition to his Ascendant (our visible selves) too. His antics will - you guessed it - yield him mostly bad press.

(even from Farce News!)

Jupiter (the luckiest planet), on the other hand will trine (help) his Pluto and Moon (emotional selves, instinct and timing). But that would mostly help if he were a better, more balance person - not a blowhard lunatic like him.

Jupiter will also be on his Midheaven (career; public life) in mid 2024 - but by then, it'll be too late.

That's just my nutshell survey of Trump's astrological situation going forward. An expert could no doubt tell you a lot more.

But it's (mostly) not good for His Orangeness. Not good at all.
