Former Pope Benedict XVI dies aged 95 - BBC News

Former Pope Benedict XVI has died at his Vatican residence, aged 95, almost a decade after he stood down.

He led the Catholic Church for less than eight years until, in 2013, he became the first Pope to resign due to ailing health since Gregory XII in 1415.

For much of his papacy, the Catholic Church faced allegations, legal claims and official reports into decades of child abuse by priests.

Earlier this year the former Pope acknowledged that errors had been made in the handling of abuse cases while he was archbishop of Munich between 1977 and 1982. - 12/31/2022.

Sorry, but documenting extreme accusations against an individual is the responsibility of those making them. The "do it yourself" rule applies to them, not the reader.

P.S. The link you provided hardly justifies the slew of perjoratives you applied to this one individual.

Google some more. He protected pedophiles. And actually it's common knowledge. I thought EVERYONE knew.

Where in any of my posts did I even mention the catholic church? My post was strictly about this enabler who allowed four pedophile priests continue to be priests under his jurisdiction as the Archbishop of Munich and he allowed to continue their pastoral duties without the church doing anything to them. And furthermore, he even LIED about a meeting where all this was discussed.

The bullshit is because it was a comment and not a post. I don't owe any links on a comment, which is an OPINION.

So, rest in hell RATzinger and I hope your lying, pedophile protecting soul is being tortured every day while there, RATzinger.

about the definition of "post" as it relates to online forums. That word, as a noun, describes only the form your typed in "opinion" or "comments" take, not the content, and sorry, but "opinions" and "comments" containing accusations DO call for links.

As to your kind wishes regarding the former pope's soul, the level of hate you express for him tells me yours is more 'tortured' than his.

Have a nice one.

I'm good. The hate is not misplaced. There's a special place in hell for those who harm children, the most innocent among us. And about links? Well, that is your opinion. Especially something that is COMMON KNOWLEDGE, that RATzinger did nothing to priest who were raping children. Common knowledge to most of us who aren't in denial.

Perpetual, abiding hate is almost always misplaced and generally winds up hurting the hater more than the hated.

Like most, I'm HORRIFIED by child sexual abuse.
That said, I know, as you apparently don't, that people CAN repent and change.

Some "common knowledge" of which you're apparently unaware: First of all, though you called him a "pedophile" in your first post, Benedict himself was never accused of child abuse. In addition, he was the first pope to acknowledge, and publicly condemn child sex abuse by priests and the first to publicly meet with abuse survivors

What's strange and distasteful about your unrelenting condemnation of this pope, is how much it surpasses that of the largest abuse survivor group in Italy. Here -

ENABLER is different. He ENABLED 4 priests to continue their priestly duties after they were rightfully accused of raping children. WITH NO OVERSITE AND THEN LIED ABOUT IT! ENABLER. So, don't lie about my post.

So what if he met with survivors? Guilty conscious? Probably.

Keep your hate comments for your own life. This is MY life, not yours. You don't get to judge me at all.

And again, rest in that special place in hell, RATzinger!

That said, you should understand that you DID include "pedophile" as one of a series of "labels" you attributed to him. If that was unintended, you may need to revisit the rules of punctation: Only ONE space is used between a noun and it's modifier, not TWO.

Bye now.

The concerns the Vatican had about the extreme right wishing to maintain contact with him, his conservative influence over Pope John Paul and the controversies led to being placed to reflect, pray and repent basically.

Blessings, good health and happiness to Francis for the New Year.
