How House Democrats could avert GOP debt ceiling disaster - The Last Word - MSNBC

The Wall Street Journal reports that Democrats are in talks with some Republicans to use an obscure House tactic known as a discharge petition to bypass Speaker McCarthy and force a vote on the debt limit. Rep. Brendan Boyle, the top Democrat on the Budget Committee, joins MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell to discuss how likely using that scenario is to raise the debt limit. - Aired on 01/11/2023.

We need to understand that in today's GOP a "Moderate" is slightly more bat-shit insane that the most extreme right-wing zealot from just a few years ago. The VERY few that were willing to stand up to Trump either retired or lost primaries.

It doesn't mean we shouldn't try, but I suspect that it will take the inevitable massive voter backlash from a multi-week government shutdown to wake up enough Republican Representatives to realize this isn't going to work for them.

Conservative "Principles" do not stand a chance against a delayed Social Security check.
