1. So are a hell of a lot of corporations

because they've been taking on massive cheap debt to buy their own stock back, goosing the price so the C level execs can sell. Just what do they expect to happen if there's another crisis and they need to raise money to service all that debt?

Corporations are doing the same "buy overpriced stocks using debt" strategy that was sold to the general public in the 1920s.

That is scaring the hell out of me.
