(31,182 posts)I think I have seen a movie by him that I liked, but his acting just does not speak to me. It is probably because movie direction was generally lame in the first half of the 20th century.

(25,771 posts)Before Capra directed It's a Wonderful Life he did a film in 1932 shortly after the start of the New Deal
about a banker who was trying to keep his bank afloat.
In the following scene from American Madness, John Dickson - played by Walter Huston - is meeting with the board of directors trying to convince them to keep from selling the bank to a larger bank (a la Mr. Potter).
This describes his theory of banking. I first saw this in 2008 as the financial system was going to hell creating the infamous "credit crunch."
