1. Unbelievable. Cops try doors in complex until they find an unlocked one...

then abuse and arrest innocent teens?

Who trains these power-drunk idiots? No one ever mentions the 4th Amendment to them at police academies?

They caused their county or municipality whichever....big money in the suit that's going to come out of this stupidity.

LEO departments need to start screening for smarter cops before they graduated them from academies. Stupid cops cost cities big bucks.

If they started trying to hire anything other than power-hungry thugs. Anyone who has a brain knows that they would be enforcing laws that are completely insane and probably against their own beliefs. So, why would anyone who fits your description want to be in law enforcement?

4. Some of out western allies do it...require a year's training. British bobbies don't even...

carry guns. The Nordic countries have long training periods and screenings.

If there was a real will to do it it could be done, not immediately of course, but over time. And raising the pay would attract better educated candidates. Police kill very few in Japan.

There has to be a national will though, but that's hardly likely as apparently we're willing to sacrifice, through qualified immunity, the thousands who cops kill and abuse because they're mostly Black, POCs, women...those with minimal acency in society.

As far as I am concerned, every single officer should have a degree in either psychology, psychiatry, or something similar. If you are going to deal with people, you need to understand them, not see them as the 'enemy' (which is the gist of the sparse training they get now).
