For days, Republicans have pushed a false story about veterans being kicked out of a New York hotel to make room for migrants. Now, the story has been proven to be a complete and total lie. Fred Wellman, host of 'On Democracy with FPWellman' podcast, and a US Army Veteran, reports.

Lying has become a weaponized virus.

(60,320 posts)Conservatives, magats and Q nuts will get terrible results by trusting bogus sources. They will believe more and more outlandish lies and will get farther and farther separated from reality. They will become more extreme and make less sense than they ever did, as time goes by. Their predictions will become even less accurate.
Thus their wing of the Republiconner party will become ever more extreme and ever less attractive to ordinary people and to decent Republicans.
Decent Republicans do exist in large number and they must not be ignored. Unless the goal is to split the country.
For me, the goal is not to split the country. It is to split the Republican Party into a small party of decent people and another small republiQONNED party of magats, super-cons, and Q-a-ninnies.

(10,990 posts)You're right about the repubs becoming more extreme. The MSM normalizing them is so fucked up. It's getting worse. CNN imitating faux news is is just the latest example when right wing billionaires get control of news outlets.

That president was Jimmy Carter and that statement completely backfired on him since, from then on, journalists looked for any hint of untruth in every statement he made.

(250,296 posts)At a recent local meeting it was suggested welcoming migrants into the community since the population has dropped and local jobs are extremely hard to fill. Several locals who have experience working with migrants stepped up to lead this effort. But there were immediate objections for the usual reasons, that they'd be "overrun" and lead to increased crime. So discussion of this humanitarian effort has been tabled until the next meeting.
However, yesterday's local paper had news of this hoax right on the front page. It remains to be seen whether those objecting to welcoming migrants here Upstate will have read it. *sigh*
