1. The Totally Depraved Evangelicals!

I have been quite active lately in YouTube forums for ex-Evangelical Christians who are deconstructing their faith, giving them more background info on Christian history and origins, and also on the origins of the core doctrines of the Christian faith, and also offering my own insights and commentary. Here is a little vignette that I would like to leave you with:

I was on a beach on Romania's Black Sea coast where I met a young person. This was back in the nineties, when Romania was recovering from communism and struggling hard to catch up with the nations of Western Europe. Anyway, I told him the story of Jimmy Swaggart's tearful confession on nationwide TV when he said "My Lord - I have sinned against you!" and admitted that he had been seeing prostitutes. The guy's jaw dropped and he stared at me in total disbelief. After what seemed like the longest time, he blurted out to me: "But I thought America was an ADVANCED nation!"

That is interesting. Amazing to me how so many evangelicals have a total disconnect between what their Lord and Savior said to do/how to act and what they actually act/believe. My whole family except me, are evangelicals and I've just totally given up trying to make them see the difference between them. Thanks for fighting the good fight.
