Yes, I’m a Republican but if elected I will do my best to not destroy democracy. And I am not a crook. And I’ll try my best not to lie to you. I will strive to bring back the conservative values of the Reagan years. I am a classic conservative. Not a new conservative. Remember the old Coke problem. Big difference a classic Republican doesn’t ALWAYS lie. See the difference.

I always cringe when they refer to the current Republican right-wing TFG supporters as "conservatives." They aren't "conservative" in the least, they're extremists. The last "conservative" may have been Bush Senior or maybe as far back as Ike. And each succeeding Republican administration has become more extreme - ending with TFG who wants to overthrow the government and end democracy altogether. That's not a "conservative value."

If we correctly did away with the electoral college. No more Republican presidents. But lots more inane political violence. The things that bring “them” joy.

Everyone is able to vote these days - or that's the idea. We don't need proxies to represent us, the votes of the people need to stand. That's how we ended up with TFG in 2016 even though the majority of the American people did not vote for him - and then there was the problem of the "fake electors" in the last election since it wasn't close enough for an Electoral College win. The Electoral College does not reflect the will of the people and needs to be thrown into the dustbin of history.

...but I still don't know if I trust him. He did seem to be one of the saner Republican governors during the pandemic. But other than, that, I don't know. Does he hate women as much as everyone else with an R after his name?

He served as a prosecutor during the impeachment of President Clinton and in his tenure as governor of Arkansas he was anti-refugee, implemented work requirements for Medicaid recipients, signed bills criminalizing abortions and prohibiting localities from extending civil rights protections to LGBT individuals and reinstated executions in the state. I sure wouldn't trust him.

He may not be a TFG supporter, but as a Republican - even a "traditional one" - I didn't expect to agree with him on much of anything. Yikes!

And welcome to DU!
