the utter kindness and humanity this act entails. I believe that not a single one of those compassionate people would accept payment, but I'd also bet that most people would happily pay them ten times their salary or more to do what they're doing.

Public Servants. God love everyone of them. All over this country, they are on call 24/7/365. I learned this very personally when I had to be transported to the hospital on Christmas last year. By New year's Eve, I was back home, and baked them up 14 mini-loaves of my special Christmas nut bread and took it over to them. They were thrilled to death with their after-Christmas treat. I encourage everyone who reads this to remember your local firemen at Christmas. Bake them something, like pies, or a turkey, something to say than you.
