so failed "assassin" might be a stretch. Failed mental health is probably more to the point.

so, it could be legit.
There were a number of prominent figures assassinated this way in the past. The Bulgarian Secret Service was also the one that used a hollow platinum pellet containing Ricin to assassinate a dissident. One of me co-workers did the evaluation on the Ricin containing pellet and showed it to me, so it was a real event.

Was there security anywhere in the neighborhood? It appears that the real response came from guys who wanted to kick the shit out of the perp. Not a pair of handcuffs in sight.
