TYT: Why is Pope Benedict Resigning?

"Benedict XVI always cast himself as the reluctant pope, a shy bookworm who preferred solitary walks in the Alps to the public glare and the majesty of Vatican pageantry. But once in office, he never shied from charting the Catholic Church on the course he thought it needed -- a determination reflected in his stunning announcement Monday that he would be the first pope to resign since 1415."*

Pope Benedict XVI will be resigning, making him the first in centuries to do so. The official reason is his health, but could there be any other giant, glaring reasons why he might want to leave the position? Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

I actually think that there are many reasons why a 85 year old retires...like senility, fear of sex abuse blow-ups, old skeletons, probably lots we don't know, and of course poor health (which could include a terminal illness). So, it's actually serious shit, but the LIMBO bit did make me laugh.

You just KNOW the idea of the head of the order being in direct contact with the deity was as well.

You can bet those leaders got together to figure out how they were going to con the public further. I'm sure they staged "visions" from the Gods. Hell, they would claim EVERYTHING was the result of the Gods. The rain, sun and even lightning. If you fell in love it was due to Cupid or some other thing with what we now call angel wings. The Gods saw all. It was the ultimate surveillance state as the Gods could not only see your actions but read your thoughts. They claimed back then that humanity was being used in a proxy war between the forces of good and evil and impure thoughts were the result of that epic battle.

Catholics to this day go and confess for every THOUGHT they consider to be "impure" including any "stirrings" they might get from soaping up their privates in the shower.
