Competitive friends

Does anyone else have a friend of many years who calls to catch up, but their real motivation is to brag about all that they've done, all that they have bought, etc., etc.?

How many times can one say "isn't that nice" in a conversation until it sounds more fake than you know it really is???!!!

2. I wouldn't get upset about it. Bragging like that shows a total lack of confidence.

3. Sounds kind of like those awful Christmas brag letters.

You could respond by telling them how happy you are that your kid will be out of prison in time for Christmas and that your spouse's meth problem is finally under control most of the time, and that you're hopeful that your new business selling mohair underpants on Etsy will bring in enough money to pay off the loan you took out to pay for your facial tattoos.
