Worst casting ever for a movie - Danny DeVito in "Man on the Moon"

Really, you don't think the audience would notice that you would cast the role of George Shapiro with the same person that played Louie DePalma in the show Taxi.

I really want to love the Andy Kaufman biopic but how they used Danny DeVito was just not right.

I think it was as much from a desire to work together again as anything. If the audience is not distracted by Jim Carrey's impersonation they should be able to deal with Devito especially since he is twice as old as he was when Taxi was on.

Caan did a decent job in the role, but you'd have to be blind and deaf to believe he was Italian.

James Caan was letter perfect in that role--basically the Juan Borgia of the Corleones. The key to the character was, no matter how Italian his father was, Sonny was an all-American mafioso.

I don't think that he had any respect at all for the character he was playing and obviously was way too old for the part. Not to mention the stunt casting of a pro wrestling commentator as a multi-time heavyweight champion and the absolute star of the territory he was in.

All kidding aside, I thought that Jim Ross as Lance Russell was an interesting cameo.

EDIT: Huh, apparently Russell himself had a cameo as the ring announcer, his name escapes me.

Jennifer Garner as Elektra was IMO one of the worst casting choices made in superhero films so far.

I've read the book and she just didn't fit the role and didn't have the skill to make me believe her in the role.

Pretty much killed the Merchant-Ivory movie right there.
