The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWants nothing for V-day...want to surprise Him...please help....
Ive been engaged to a wonderful man for almost a year, and were to be married this April
But.....little things like this keep cropping up. Ive never dated a man before, let alone fell in love with one.....and I want to make him happy, even despite himself
I currently manage a restaurant, and when I asked my fiancé how he felt about Valentines Day, he replied I hope your busy baby. And blew me a kiss.
I want to do something special for him anyway, but work is sucking my creative juices dry, on top of this being the most unfamiliar territory Ive ever stumbled through (and Ive been drunk on 5 continents)
So please, any ideas you crazy/genius-marvelous lounge lizards have, I dont care how stupid, lame, cheesy, or insane they might be to you, let me have em. PLEASE
Thanks......

He has recently been diagnosed with chronic liver failure (and whiskey WAS his best friend)
All his favorite musicians are dead (R.I.P. Janis and Mr. Mercury)
And baseball doesnt start for another 6 weeks or so....
I do thank you for the reply.... I need all the help I can get
Also, I love your tag line

(16,385 posts)How about something only you would know about? A CD of his favorite group or a book from a writer he enjoys? A framed photo of the two of you together?

(50,561 posts)There's a very good holiday in Japan, "White Day." It's March 14, and it's kind of a reverse Valentine's Day.
In Japan, Valentine's Day is all about the ladies. Women don't do anything for their men on 2/14...because they wait until 3/14 and then they go all out.
Come Wednesday, you come home all wore out from the restaurant and..."Oh, I'm sorry honey, I was so stressed out about work and so swamped, I just got overwhelmed. Can you ever forgive me?" (That you really will be stressed out about worked and swamped will help considerably.) Come White Day, he'll walk in not thinking anything's different...and then you take some of the suggestions the rest of our unruly band have made and just go to town for him.

(4,483 posts)to carry in his pocket--he calls it his "fidget rock"--to remind him every day that I love him. Any little item would do--I replaced it for an anniversary with a tiny red glass heart--but the thing that makes it special I think is that it's kind of secret--and god knows the price is right!

(10,156 posts)Cook him his favorite breakfast. And you could also give him a back rub that's awesome those are great... the best thing ever is cuddling in bed.
I've never experienced any of those but that's what I would like.

(38,568 posts)Something relating to his hobbies would work nicely.
Does he have favorite writers? I think books always make a great gift.
Or maybe a gift certificate for a massage.... (that's what I would want. Then again, I'm not a man. Not all men are into that.)

Of course, my wife cant cook (thankfully, I can)... Not sure how she found her way into my heart.
