Does someone have a reliable, free phone look-up?
My poor husband is getting targeted with solicitations. Unfortunately, he isn't as cynical as I am or he would have written down names and other details provided by the caller.
I have listed the number below for the call that came in with a shameless solicitation. Started out by asking for someone who, obviously was not here. And then she asked if he was familiar with a property in the area. My husband said no, and then she asked if he knew anyone in the market buying or selling real estate. This one I might want to turn in.

Always thrilled to be of service (however small) to a fellow DU'er. 
..i have FB friend in her mid 70s (not much older than i am) and she suddenly IM'd me yesterday telling me she won a 300,000$ free grant from GOVERNMENT GRANT NEW YEAR program... She was very insistant i call the number she provided cuz she said she saw MY name on the list of winners!...AND her bank verified the check as real. Well at first I thought SHE got scammed but now Im sure its a hacker. I checked her FB page and I see friends of hers are telling her shes been hacked.
Back to the IM... This morning i told 'her' i may call after i chatted with the Better Business Bureau. Well Im sure this as a hacker using her acct as the language was very formal ("Hello"
..who says HELLO to a friend? ..and some odd sentence structures. Ive sent my friend a private message and asked if it was her but havent heard back yet. Also after i mentioned the BBB the IMs stopped suddenly.
So if someone has the free reverse look up heres one for ya... 815-200-8471...or just call and ask for Richard Williams. Ask if your (fake) name is on winners list. we should set up a sting.
ps I used the look up posted above and says its a number from a non dedicated line but low risk.. ha! well maybe i really DID win 300,000$!
or a recorded message or someone stealing information. Could be the "IRS" (haha) etc.
ETA - my brother just told me about a call he shouldn't have taken. He said it was a kid claiming to be a relative, trying to scam some money or possibly get a credit card number. When my brother let it rip on him the kid ripped back. The kid then called back about a half hour later and told my brother "Enjoy your pizzas fucker."
As soon as my brother hung up, a local pizzeria rang the bell with 10 pizzas.
This happened just a couple of weeks ago
Some hacker is stealing somebody's number to do something nefarious with it.
About a year or so ago there was a a warning that some of these criminals were trying to elicit specific answers (in particular a "yes" that could be recorded and played back when they called to get credit cards in YOUR name.
That came to me from my daughter who works in a business that is super wary of of such schemes. So I don't know if it is true for sure but I do heed the warning.
Thus if I don't know the number or person on the display I let it go to voice mail. If they want me, they will leave a message.
I get from 3 to 6 of these calls a day, most in my area code. We are retired so few people are actually calling us.
Funny thing is that they are often at the exact time of day when they call - 11 AM, 1PM, 3PM.
