(23,314 posts)We eat them on the half shell with a shot of Tobasco, Worcester sauce and lemon juice. Tastes like the ocean!

(31,464 posts)I love oysters. We have an excellent local seafood market near us with fresh native oysters from CT, MA, RI, and usually a couple from the Pacific Northwest or Canada. I've gotten pretty good at shuckin' 'em myself.

(5,477 posts)but I prefer them straight up, on the half shell, with just a little touch of lemon juice (and not all of the other flavor-masking sauces and things they usually serve them with).

(12,132 posts)hell yes.
but just eating raw oysters I can take or leave - mostly leave.
When I was still just a boy I dated a girl who wanted me to take her to an oyster bar. She ordered a dozen raw and ate all but the one she made me try. I handled it poorly and that was the beginning of the end for us.
I can eat them now without making a scene but I'd just rather not. Cracker and hot sauce required.

(39,343 posts)I have autoimmune issues, so I haven't had it in years. Last oyster place I was at, I got some weird looks for eating the above but without the oyster (Saltine with horseradish and cocktail sauce).
