so we got six channels -- two for each network. Both of the ABC channels were a little difficult to receive, however, until they each built 2000 foot towers.

We could get four channels: Two from Atlanta, two from Chattanooga. Channels 2 & 3 were NBC and channels 5 & 12 were CBS. We had to turn the antenna to get the Chattanooga channels, though, so usually we just watched either 2 or 5. Not much labor involved in changing the channel.

(31,998 posts)6. I had an old b & w portable with a cracked screen
and a handle "fixed" by my dad with duct tape.
My mom "let" me take it with me to college.
We wrapped the antenna with tin foil and attached that to a coat hanger and stuck it out the window to get better reception.
