The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHow about some of those famous Lounge vibes, please??
Some of you have probably read my rants about my crappy husband who consulted with a divorce attorney on the day that I had brain surgery in January 2009. Later that year, he unceremoniously dropped me from his health plan.
Now, I *finally* have health insurance again! On Monday, I'm going in for that follow-up MRI that I should have had back in December 2009. I want so badly to get off of the anti-seizure meds which I may not need (I have an EEG scheduled later in May, too).
So . . . could you spare some prayers, vibes, good thoughts, nose boops . . . whatever you do . . . hoping that there is no re-growth of the tumor?
Thanks all !

(2,682 posts)You didn't mention any symptoms -- the hopeful part is that it's been over 3 years since your surgery and you're still moving along! Good for you. Let us know how the tests come out.

(5,849 posts)on my left parietal lobe (benign). The only symptom I had was a seizure in the middle of the night. I woke up in the ER. Fortunately, surgery took care of the tumor -- no follow-up radiation was needed. I also did not require any physical therapy.
My husband was behaving like such a horse's ass at the time; drinking heavily, attempting to throw me out of the house, verbally abusing me. What surprises me is some people (including a few women) have actually defended him, saying that men are very poor at processing emotions, or some such BS. I would like to think that men like that are in a minority!
Thank you for your well-wishes, Heiress!

i had a follow up MRI bout 3 wks ago. my advice, if they offer music, i found it had to be loud to go over the sound of the machine. i like my own mantra instead. have you ever been in a tanning bed? you know how they told you to keep your eyes closed, i do that. the machine is close but not touching. if they don't offer, ask for a knee sponge to reduce the pressure on your lower back, the room is cool b/c of the a/c for the machine, so ask for a heated blanket. let us know how it goes <<forgot to spell check>>

(12,650 posts)I'm lighting a candle for you too.
My father in law was very recently diagnosed with something similar, and the doctor says it's benign, but growing.
Can't really understand what that meant, other than it apparently means surgery but no chemo.
