The kidlet has entered Amelia in the 2012 Parents Magazine Cover Contest; even making weekly winner status will really help out on the diapers and formula...

We've gone over the 6 month mark and she's starting the solid food...

1. How cute is she???

Aw, such a darling little girl. She deserves to win.

This voting is nice because all you have to do it watch a brief ad and then answer a question, no need to sign-up and give out an email address.

2. She's going to be a redhead with grey eyes.

Her mom and grandmother both look just like Molly Ringwald with a more heart-shaped face. She's also going to be tall and willowy; she's maintaining her 95th percentile of length for her age at 40th percentile of weight; the pediatrician says she's longer than most boy babies her age. Laz says she's aiming to be either a pianist or an Olympic Beach Volleyball player when she grows up, which probably means she's going to be a librarian...

And her first words were "hi" (and she waves when she says it) and a weird squeal vocalization sounding vaguely like "Kitty" directed towards any of the cats she sees. She loves the kitties - but only one of them will sit and let her "pet" her (that means grab onto scruff and drool all over); amazingly enough, it's the cat that hates everyone.

4. She looks intelligent

Maybe it is her high forehead, though I believe that it has been disproved as a measurement. She is posed in a thinking position. Her eyes look thoughtful also, and I can tell they are gray from the photo.

Interesting about the cat. When I was very young, my mother's cat preferred to be with me when he could, he would sleep in the crib with me. And I still have a particular fondness toward orange cats to this day.

I promised the kidlet I'd help her out if she'd make dinner tonight. And wonders of wonders, Laz reported she's got it started...it's a loaded Lasagna with an assortment of veggies and meats, and home-made slow-cooked sauce.
('course it helps that I already had the veggies for the layers and sauce ready, and the meat(s) properly marinating in their spices, and the pot was sitting on the stove ready for use...all she has to do is start the sauce and meats, find all the cheeses, cook the noodles, layer the pan and then bake for an hour.)
