update: AT

my brother is in midst of thru hike... I blew my chance in 2013 and now hope to leapfrog around and get it done this year in sections... ?? lots of personal obligations I am off trail now and supposed to fly down to Roanoke Tuesday to pick back up, but not sure... also supposed to meet up with my brother at some point...

if interested follow him (I don't even do selfies but he does the video thing ) he is "Hawk on the Appalachian Trail"
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUHz_Q6dXNXOeOP4AsIXaag I'm rooting for him to finish (he's got some health issues he is working through so it's a feat)

photos below are a few I took on initial hike this month... I was only one on the trail for the most part because I started midway

I have learned a lot... one reason I came back was that I have to improve my sleep system... my brother mailed me his 0 quilt since he was going to a different system... I am a cold sleeper and needed more than my 20 Sea to Summit... the Big Agnes is my old tent and I have a new one- side entrance and not freestanding... will take that out next time... my cooking system is good... I like the jetboil... my son made me a system using denatured alcohol and it is very good and lightweight, but the jetboil is good and fast!

I sold my Osprey (internal frame) backpack last year and now use a Granite gear frameless to save a few ounces... kinda miss all the bells and whistles

anyways... wish I was doing the thru hike but I appreciate anytime I can get out and hopefully will be able to say I've hiked every bit this year and maybe in a few can do the thruhike??

I just got bit by the backpacking bug and want to see if I can at least do a small section, maybe in Georgia this year.
