It's from Supernatural when Dean dies about a hundred times in one episode.

Another British wit, don't remember who, had his family around his bed awaiting the moment of death. Not able to see if he was still breathing, someone said, "Feel his feet; no one dies with warm feet."
Without opening his eyes, his last words were: "Joan of Arc did."

dead buffoon.

Sedgewick was actually quite a capable commander (being in the thick of the fight made him a better tactician, and also put him at risk for just this sort of thing) and was beloved by his men.

... but it really is a pretty funny story, even if apocryphal.

I never had that reaction to the story, but I can see how one would get the wrong impression if they heard it before knowing anything about Sedgwick's previous engagements.
I also like it because it is such a contrast to the pompous, staged "last words" that are so often attributed to soldiers falling on the field of battle. Sedgwick was too busy doing his job to make speeches.

At the end of a long life, this guy said "Can somebody tell me what the fuck that was all about?"

While I don't remember who said it, I've always remembered as something I've wanted to say with my last breath. I've kept it in readiness for when the moment comes, but with my luck I'll probably get washed overboard or something.
