(63,221 posts)I was there. I'm not much of a breakfast eater anyway. I rarely eat it unless we have a work b-fast, and then I will have some fruit salad and half a bagel or something. I like a more leisurely weekend brunch and then I like to have an omelet, sausage or bacon (all well done), english muffin or rye toast and fruit salad.

(17,003 posts)turkey sausage, buttermilk biscuits with butter and strawberry jam and a cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting to top it all off. Then a nap, a nice morning nap.

(34,136 posts)But since we only eat breakfast out about three times a year, I do't get that very often.
At home most mornings it's oatmeal with a dash of cinnamon, a bit of butter and a sprinkling of demeara sugar over the top.
Today, since I don't have time to make oatmeal it was a Toaster Scramble with eggs, bacon, cheese, and an apple Toaster pastry. Not as healthy or satisfying and they just don't stick with me the way oatmeal does.

(34,195 posts)Biscuits and white gravy with scrambled eggs, sausage links, hash browns, buttered whole wheat toast, and a large cold glass of milk.
MissMillie
(38,553 posts)I always thought the white gravy had sausage in it, so I wouldn't need the sausage links. And if I have the biscuits I don't need the toast.
Glass of orange juice or half and orange.

(18,837 posts)...until it came down to that last slice.
Seriously, I enjoy all kinds of breakfasts, but I do believe right down to the bottom of my heart that cold pizza can be accurately labeled a breakfast of champions.

But alas, I am open minded enough to let these sorts of things go....um....er......
COLD PIZZA FOR BREAKFAST IS FUCKING GROSS!!!!
Sorry......lost control there for a sec.

(25,586 posts)but I actually prefer my pizza cold. I used to make one on Sundays just to shove in the fridge for breakfast during the week.

If I really want to shorten my life span, steak, eggs sunny side, some kind of potato and coffee.
For a trip down memory lane, shit on a shingle, pickled beets, powdered orange juice and coffee the EPA would have banned.

(8,703 posts)It's the quality of the eggs and steak. Grass fed beef and range free eggs have mega good nutrients while factory farmed meat and eggs will probably do you in.

(18,837 posts)...a BLT with an egg was one of the most popular items. They used to make them between stops and have them hot and ready for us because they knew a lot of people would be ordering them. Second most popular item was a breakfast burrito with eggs, cheese, potatoes and bacon.

(8,703 posts)Fruit, milk, yogurt, honey, a raw egg yoke (my own chicken eggs), and some Udo's oil. I blend it all up in my Vitamix.
I freeze the fruit so it's nice and cold - kind of like ice cream.
I like bacon and eggs too but that is something I can only eat for a late breakfast.
Miles Archer
(18,837 posts)...oatmeal, ground to a powder in the blender, then some vanilla yogurt, some Egg Beaters, some milk, and a banana.
When I'd read that Egg Beaters were pasteurized, so you could consume them raw, it was my go-to breakfast.

(9,265 posts)Or as we call it around here, Dried Beef Gravy. None of that crap in jars, here in PA Dutch country you get actual sliced dried beef in a pouch in the hot dogs and pre-packed lunch meat section. Tear it in little pieces and sauté in plenty of butter. Sprinkle with 3 tbsp flour and stir until dried beef is coated with flour which gets a little brown. Pour on 2 cups whole or 2% milk and stir constantly til thickened. Serve on toast or (even better) home fries. Thats it, 4 ingredients. Theres a diner nearby that makes it good and well go there after church once in a while if I dont feel like cooking. A treat after the workday breakfast of coffee and a granola bar.

Hunter S. Thompson's idea of a breakfast of champions did not include Wheaties. On Wednesday, Lapham's Quarterly posts an illuminating 1979 missive from Thompson on best way to partake in the most important meal of the day:
I like to eat breakfast alone, and almost never before noon; anybody with a terminally jangled lifestyle needs at least one psychic anchor every twenty-four hours, and mine is breakfast. ...
The food factor should always be massive: four Bloody Marys, two grapefruits, a pot of coffee, Rangoon crêpes, a half-pound of either sausage, bacon, or corned-beef hash with diced chilies, a Spanish omelette or eggs Benedict, a quart of milk, a chopped lemon for random seasoning, and something like a slice of key lime pie, two margaritas and six lines of the best cocaine for dessert... Right, and there should also be two or three newspapers, all mail and messages, a telephone, a notebook for planning the next twenty-four hours, and at least one source of good music... all of which should be dealt with outside, in the warmth of a hot sun, and preferably stone naked.
...
