And it still pisses me off that he was taken from us.

(11,869 posts)After Vietnam...I kind of lay low until Lennon was shot. I immediately joined the National Coalition to Ban Handguns and worked my way up into a leadership position by organizing concert rallies to raise money. Rick Springfield, King Crimson, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and many comedians signed on. In the end...NCTBH
Abandoned ops in PA... It was just gun country.
I've been an activist ever since. I think Lennon would like that.

(17,444 posts)I was in college. The next day, I was in one of the student union rooms. Some guy walked in and made a joke about Lennon's death. Another guy in there took offense and beat the holy crap out of him.

(20,202 posts)Not so much when he's singing. It's more when he's being his natural self. He was often quite funny. This one got me yesterday.

This wasn't supposed to happen. It was wrong...

(18,837 posts)...a few minutes after it was announced. my brother in law showed up at my front door with a pizza he'd gotten as a surprise, for us to share. I opened the door and we looked at each other and didn't say a word. He'd heard. We sat down and ate the pizza in relative silence.
This kind of thing didn't happen, and it had just happened.
When "Double Fantasy" was announced, I didn't know what to expect. Sure, we had "Imagine" to look to, but we also had "Sometime In New York." It was hard to believe that after some of his lesser work, after the "Lost Weekend in Los Angeles" with Harry Nilsson, after taking five years off to raise his son and "watch shadows on the wall," that he'd find his muse again.
But he did.
And almost immediately following that, he was taken in a senseless and brutal act of violence.
I'll always remember.
I'll never forget.
