What do you like on your Bratwurst?

Inspired by the hot dog poll, now that summer is fast approaching here in the Upper Midwest. I wanna know what you like on your bratwurst.

Mustard, kraut, and onions geardaddy May 2012 #1
Same here, but I voted for kraut, because I think that's the primary accessory. (nt) harmonicon May 2012 #24

And spare me the Brats. Nothing but heartburn on a plate for me (as are most sausages, pepperoni, etc)

Picture this: 18-year-old MFM, not being a fan, had been talked into going to
the concert in the indoor bicycle track at the Munich Olympic Park. JUST prior
to the show, hungry from his enormous snack of red wine and hashish (the
WRONG drugs for this particular show, BTW -- asleep within a half-hour),
MFM wanders out to the DESERTED food vendor area along the inside wall of
the joint.
.
Deserted except for the wild-haired, wild-eyed American hippie at the brat
stand towards which MFM was headed.
.
THREE open-faced bratwurst sandwiches on Kaiser rolls balanced atop his
inner forearm -- to which this hippie is enthusiastically applying a great deal
of mustard. "THESE THINGS ARE GREAT!!!," he cried, looking me right
in the eye.
.
I agreed with him.
.
He replaced the tops of the kaiser rolls and walked off... still balancing the
sandwiches on his inner forearm.
.
.
.
I had no idea who he was until I saw him about 15 minutes later onstage.
.
.
.
Yep... ... ... ... Jerry.
.
.
.
I credit his first space jam with my unplanned but excellent nap. Both the
wine and the hash were credited with assists.
.
.
.
I never sausage a celebrity that close and personal before.

21. The best bratwurst I had

was at a Farmer's Market on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Literally I fell for it.

Looking at it I stepped of a curb and fell. Lost the Brat but saved my camera and did a half descent fall and roll if I do say so myself.

I fire up the grill, and I get a pan. I then cut onions up and line the bottom of the pan. You can add some garlic if you like. Then I place the brats atop the onions, and cover the whole thing with beer. I generally get a quart of Miller from the grocery store; I pour about 2/3 of the bottle over the brats and drink the rest. Then I set the pan on the grill. I boil the brats until they are completely grey. Then, using tongs (never, ever, ever use a fork), I place the brats on the grill to finish.

Personally, I like my brats with sweet mustard (like the kind Hickory Farms sells).

For my fellow Nor-Cals. If you don't know this already, a really great place to get brats (or hot sausages or hot dogs or other bun-held sausages) is Top Dog on Durant Avenue in Berkeley.

Heat 2 tbsp. olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add 1 finely chopped large yellow onion; cook until soft, 8–10 minutes. Add 2 tbsp. curry powder and 1 tbsp. hot paprika; cook for 1 minute more. Add 14.5 oz can of tomato sauce into pan. Add 1⁄4 cup sugar, 1⁄4 cup red wine vinegar, and salt to taste; stir well. Increase heat to high; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 25 minutes. Serve over brats. French fries on the side.
