BUT.
IMO Texting is great for relatively simple conversations. For instance,
do you want to go to Olive Garden?
OK
Meet you there at 11:30?
Cant get away from work until later. How about 1230?
OK, 12:30 it is.
Other example:
What color was George Washingtons white horse?
White.
Thanks.
But for a complicated conversations, forget about it. Its a lot more difficult through texting to get your point across sometimes. To make sure the other person understood really what you said.
It annoys me to no end to try to Carry on a complicated conversation via texting.
Some of you are undoubtedly thinking, no question but that this OP is old. And you would be right. And some of you are also probably thinking that my texting examples sound more like Shakespeare like real texting examples. And you may be right about that too. But I think you follow my general idea.
I will not, not carry on a complicated communication via texting.

(14,532 posts)There are times when the person I am communicating with is unable to talk on the phone. Or things like directions and recipes, so I have to text. I find voice to text very helpful. Just make sure you proof it before send. I forgot once and told my son to buy a negligée and cook according to instructions on the box. I said linguini. Did I mention he was making dinner for his girl friend.

(14,275 posts)My wife and I mainly use texting to keep a running conversation going with our daughter. She lives in another state. We also check in from time to time with an old friend in Hawaii. Other than that, I rarely have a need to communicate with anyone else by text.
I have fun with it and pictures or GIFs can throw some humor into the conversation if placed strategically.

Then I have to scroll up and down and try to put the pieces together.
Hay-soos a Christo, you have a phone in your hand. Dial my damn number and talk to me.

(63,221 posts)I absolutely HATE trying to have long conversations via text. I really can't stand texting at all because I am very slow at it - I use one finger - and I just find it annoying. I would much rather email or call for something more complicated.
