So I got to "accept" an Oscar on my tour of Warner Bros. studios two days ago...

It's cool. I've never had an Oscar in my hand. But on the studio tour they have a staffer in soft white gloves handing to people as they passed by and wanted to have their photo taken of the event. My daughter took the pic.

Naturally, I said "I'd like to thank the Academy."

P.S. they are heavier than I thought...

was unpacking boxes one year after an office move for a performer that I worked for at the time, took something out of the box, unwrapped it and went, "Holy crap!"

including plaster during WWII but now according to Google/wiki

The statuettes presented at the initial ceremonies were gold-plated solid bronze. Within a few years the bronze was abandoned in favor of Britannia metal, a pewter-like alloy which is then plated in copper, nickel silver, and finally, 24-karat gold.

I had heard differing stories back when I was there.
