Daylight saving time ends Sunday

At 2:00 a.m. on the 4th - or the night before - the few analog clocks still around must "fall back" an hour, turning 1:59:59 a.m. into 1 a.m. Microwaves and ovens are on a short list of household appliances that will need a manual adjustment.

Since most of our computers, smartphones and DVRs do it automatically, it's not as much of a chore as it used to be.

Starting Sunday, that one hour of daylight is basically shifted from evening to morning as standard time begins. We don't go back to daylight saving until Sunday, March 10, 2019, about 10 days before spring begins.

Here are 12 fun facts about daylight saving time you may not have known:

I do realize that I am in the extreme minority. I kind of like when night time starts around 4:30.

However I totally get that so many other people feel the exact opposite, especially here in eastern new england. My wife will be complaining about the drive home very soon. Her family is in northeastern Maine and their experience is even worse. It's time to end this farce. Every supposed benefit for time change has been debunked. There is convincing evidence that time changes cause health problems and auto accidents.

where weekenders come, so now they have to leave earlier to get home for work on Monday. So we, the ones who live here, love this time of year. More peace and quiet!

The beginning date for my annual onset of seasonal affective disorder. I hate that it's dark when I leave work.
