Off-beat, wacky Christmas movies. Share one or more with us...

I'll start with Mixed Nuts. Steve Martin, Madeline Kahn, Tony LaPaglia, Liv Schrieber, Rob Reiner, Gary Shandling.

Whacky Christmas movie set in Venice Beach (I guess). Crazy story line with the requisite surprize, sappy Christmas ending.

One of my faves when I get tired of avoiding all of the crap on the TV box these days.

Steve Martin plays the bumbling head of a suicide hotline. While trying to save the chaotic agency from financial ruin, Martin must deal with everything from pregnant airheads to dancing transvestites. Pausing in his quest to save lives, he discovers that love may be right under his nose.

Quarreling husband and wife with dysfunctional relatives, delinquent kid and a cat burglar meet up with hilarious results and a kind of sappy ending.

One of my favorite scenes is the doberman confronting Denis Leary in the pool room.

My sister and I use her line from the movie as code for "this present sucks".

It's a nice take on the Dickens story. And David Johansson is great as Christmas Past as is Carol Kane as Christmas Present.

They're both a hoot.

Fred Claus.

It's really a pretty different story for a Christmas movie and there is a lot of talent in that movie.

It is a British film from 1991 starring Alan Cummings, Lenny Henry and Rowan Atkinson. It is a fun silly film about a down on his luck guy at Christmas who finds a lamp with wish granting genie.
