Their holdings have been reduced to a few plots along River Road, and a large one at the mouth of the river where it empties into Commencement Bay. The ever-expanding Emerald Queen Casino takes up a large tract of this land.

(2,716 posts)We actually lease our lot from the Swinomish Tribe and are located on their reservation. They are good landlords and good neighbors.

(2,682 posts)There are associated tribes. So we are on Puget Salish Snohomish land.
At the Uptown theater and the SIFF Film Center in Seattle before the movie starts, they show a statement on the screen saying which tribal lands the theater is on. I'm embarrassed to admit I don't remember which one it is.

(34,139 posts)In historic times our farm was about halfway between the villages of Apalachee and Miccosukee. We've found projectile points and chert flakes so I suspect that the ridge we are on was a popular campsite for those traveling between the two villages and probably also a very good hunting spot.
