Our old guy died last January and we just haven't had the heart to replace him yet. However, we've decided that after the first of the year, we will get serious. We've made several offers for dogs we've seen but none have worked out so far, but like I said, we've been really half hearted in this. We;re hoping we can find a young dog, 3-4 months old who likes cats or at least has been around them and doesn't chase them and is house broken, medium sized, prefer Siberian mix for the howls. We'll be very lucky to find a dog like that and are prepared that we might have to do the training ourselves (meaning mostly me since I don't work, lol). It's been 15 years since we had a puppy, but think we're up to it for a non-hyper dog.

They may not act aggressive towards them in front of you in the house, but you let them get alone with them (esp. outside), they can have a real (unexpected) prey drive.

One can never replace another. You're just going to be bringing a new family member on board.
