...the fungus thats killing them wakes them up mid hibernation with massive itching.....once they are awake, theres no food for them so they die out. We had a few living in our rafters....they were so tiny!!anyway they just disappeared.

7. I had one in my attic

this summer. I turned the lights on and opened a window after dark. I sat in the yard until I saw it leave then closed the window and patched the
screen on the gable vent so he couldn't get back in. I also found a light/ultrasound device to put in the light
sockets. They work as a light or a light/ultrasound generator. It is intended to repel mice and rats but I think they may
also work on bats.

18. It might need water. They dehydrate quickly because of the surface area of their wings.

If you don't have enough insects up there and don't have a way to get mealworms, I read on one site that they can eat a bit of canned cat food mashed to a paste.

Rehydration: plain tap water or a pinch of sugar and a pinch of salt in one cup water.

But my cats would probably get it.

I just hope it makes it to spring and I can let it go.

OK, now I have said that I hope you are able to figure out what to do. I hope you can do it without putting the bat in danger. At least it has proven by not attacking you or the cats that it does not have rabies.

Manu Ginobili swatted a bat with his bare hands and had to get a rabies shot.

People have gotten rabies after having a bat in their home without realizing they had contact with one.

20. Once a bat got stuck between two panes of glass in a bedroom window
Fri Dec 14, 2018, 09:10 PM

in my house. I have no idea how it got in there and since it was a guest room it was just by chance that I discovered it. The gap between the two panes of glass was so narrow I don't think I could fit a piece of paper through it.

Anyway, there was no way to free the bat without opening the window knowing that meant it would most likely fly into the room before I could open the other pane of glass to the outside. Luckily there is another window in that room so I opened that one, pushed the screen up, then opened the one with the bat stuck in it, ran like hell out of the room slamming the door after me. Luckily it worked. But I'm still mystified as to how the bat became stuck there in the first place.
