(23,097 posts)I've listened on acid, pot, opium and straight. Unfortunately, I fell asleep for about half the album after smoking the opium, lol. We just queued it up and listened again. I remembered more of it when straight, but the experience, the sheer unadulterated funniness shone through best when stoned.

(2,893 posts)J Men is the story of The Secret World War, a War of Cultures as Rock and Roll smashes Shmaltsy Music. This outrageous comedy was created by the Firesign Theater's Phillip Proctor and Peter Bergman in the style of Woody Allen's 'What's Up Tiger Lilly". From the goldmine of Republic Cliffhanger Serials, J Men was overdubbed with new voices and script to a classic rock soundtrack. J Men Forever became the signature for Night Flight's stoned comedy audience in the 19080's. This ultimate late night chronic high comedy was the most demanded rerun for the entire 8 years Night Flight was on the USA Network.

(7,517 posts)Love, love Firesign Theater. Like another said, a staple of my dorm in 1971. Have several albums, even the kinda depressing last one, "In the Next World You're on Your Own", which marked the end of the hippie era and presaged the age of Reagan.

(7,517 posts)I might have heard that some 40 odd years ago but can't remember for sure. Understandable considering. My Bradhsaw has another source but I may claim the title Lieutenant now.
Thanks for sharing.

(2,843 posts)I have quite the collection of FT.
If I was to pick an FT album to listen to right now it would be Bozos, my personal favorite.
But I keep pulling lines from "Everything You Know is Wrong" in my head. Maybe it's because I just viewed a video about the 1897 UFO crash in Aurora, TX where they buried the "little guy".

(23,097 posts)Bozos on the Bus is one of my all time faves. We used to have parties and listen to these. We'd be enhanced, one way or the other, and would laugh so hard, we'd fall off the couch.
So happy to see them here, to know that other people revere the madness too. So happy to hear this again.

I remember when I bought the album How Can You Be in Two Places at Once When You're Not Anywhere at All. The cashier looked at the cover, saw the pics of Groucho Marx and John Lennon and started giggling. Then I started giggling. We were both giggling so much that we could barely do the transaction.
