oven roasted rosemary potatoes and horseradish sour cream sauce.😋

I don't do much for New Year's Eve/Day anymore. Most of my family does their own thing or goes away skiing and I have kind of turned into a party hating introvert, so it's almost a non-holiday for me these days. I used to like to have small dinner parties when I had a larger apartment, but I only have a studio now so it's kind of cramped.
Someday I hope to have a bigger space and start up the dinner party thing again! And then I will need a copy of your famous Beef Wellington recipe!

Midnight tacos have become our go to dish for New Year's Eve, that is if the Christmas Tamales are gone, which they usually are.
Feliz año nuevo, Baby!

(22,035 posts)This is our fifth year spending the holiday week on Cape Cod. This New Years Eve dinner is one of our "new" traditions.
The time-share we have in South Yarmouth overlooks the Bass River and the sunsets are lovely. It's beautiful in the off-season and there aren't the crowds one would expect in the summer.

Simple. Satisfying, and keeps the cabin warm!

(2,149 posts)Ribs cooked in kraut, which itself contains a nice dose of caraway and brown sugar
Which will prove an interesting challenge this year, because of health-related dietary changes. Vegan so no milk or butter for mashed potatoes. Gluten free so most fake meat riblets are out. And no added sugar so the kraut (without the usual injudicious amount of porky goodness rendered out of those ribs to begin with) is going to be difficult
Optimistically I can get 75% of the way to an approximation

(38,000 posts)For me for New Year's day, it's blackeyed peas with turnip greens, turkey ham and cornbread. Got a bottle of cheap "champagne" for New Year's eve + some orange juice for mimosas.

(22,252 posts)good turnip greens. That is if we are in Texas Sometimes I make Hoppin' John with rice.
We are in Arizona with our daughter, and will have New Year's food with her Kurdish/Iranian in laws. Daughter has requested a dish her MIL makes with chicken, rice, lots of chopped greens, and black eyed peas! So we will get our Good Luck Food after all.
I brought my favorite cornbread mix with me just in case, and daughter says let's take cornbread as our part of the meal.
I also brought several rolls of frozen slice and bake cookies which we will bake to take over. Spicy Mexican Chocolate and Lemon.
