Andrew Zimmern's Show Set to Die After his Controversial Comments

http://www.bravotv.com/the-feast/chef-andrew-zimmern-apology-chinese-food-comments-travel-channel-update?fbclid=IwAR0vdhxnVIaBTOHS6HkKcTTZiOJ7X9cxM4_z2q1GzUPh_i0pBSOHcvkJHY4

UPDATE (DECEMBER 30, 11:20 A.M. ET

It seems Bizarre Foods host Andrew Zimmern is paying for his controversial comments: His show has been axed from its prime time slot on the Travel Channel amid the fallout. The Bizarre Foods franchise and sister show, The Zimmern List, "has been bumped by network owner Discovery, Inc. into a graveyard rotation slot on Saturday mornings to run their course," according to Page Six. Filming has stopped on both shows midseason, according to Page Six's source, "and is not expected to continue further."

While promoting his Midwestern Chinese food restaurant chain, Andrew Zimmern made comments that insulted people in the Asian-American community, food critics, and beyond: He said, "I think I’m saving the souls of all the people from having to dine at these horseh--- restaurants masquerading as Chinese food that are in the Midwest.”

that serve french fries, lots of fried food, and very little or no authentic Chinese food.

You may be exactly right, but ... people don't like 'truth' in this world, sadly ...

When I go to a local Chinese place, I know what to expect. I am not expecting authentic Chinese, I'm not sure why he even made this comment to begin with.

Peace

A Chinese immigrant to my town opened a restaurant, and actually created a dish consisting of fried chicken chunks covered in an oyster sauce based gravy. Add some green onions and cashews and you have "Springfield-Style Cashew Chicken." Nearly every Asian restaurant in town serves this, along with similar fare. I'd not go into a local Asian restaurant and expect any kind of experience with authentic Chinese cuisine.

Id like to say that is what sells. That is what is in our collective mind when we think Chinese food. If you want more authentic, befriend the owners and ask.

That said, I looked at the website https://luckycricket.net/dinner/ of his restaurant, and I don't see much of anything authentic. It actually made me think that Dave & Busters opened a Chinese room. The pictures and menu decoration are pretty tacky.

I guess Hong Kong waffles and Shanghai fried chicken is a time honored authentic recipe passed from mother-in-laws to daughters going back centuries.
