Is there a certain material to look for? Carbon fiber? Acrylic? Kryptonite? Unobtanium?
Garcias.

(10,337 posts)The bigger question is why the fuck are you sitting in your car in 110 degree heat without the AC on? I havve to assume that you are sitting in the car because any sane person would be wearing their shades when it's 110 outside. They woulod not leave them in the car.

(8,719 posts)Doesn't metal get real hot tho? And Aren't those kinda expensive? I'm looking for something cheap so when the car gets broken in to it's not that bad of a loss.

(20,176 posts)Usually around this time of year, stores like Target and WalMart start to sell these rubberized-plastic Wayfarer-style (as in the iconic Ray-Ban frame) sunglasses designed for kids. (Not toddlers, like 8-12 year olds. They'll fit an adult) They're basically indestructible. They don't melt, they don't burn, they don't get hot, you can't break them, the lenses are shit and scratch easily (and occasionally have defects but those should be obvious at the store) but since they're basically disposable one-season or one-day-at-the-beach sunglasses it doesn't really matter. They're also usually really ugly florescent colors though so that kids can't lose them. Like $5.
I assume you're just wearing them to drive.

(20,176 posts)Holds true for eyeglasses too. My fancy expensive frames, I used to break them constantly. My current frames were meant to be prescription sunglasses frames so cheaper and lower quality than eyeglass frames; I only needed them to last a few months between gigs...3 years and they look like the day I got them.

(21,046 posts)especially if you need prescription shades. I wear prescription shades (i'm extremely nearsighted) with metal black anodized frames. You can get non-prescription shades too.

I've gotten prescription bifocals from zenni optical, and new prescription shades put in some old frames at goggles4u. Single vision glasses can be extremely cheap.
I paid $49 for my last pair of prescription bifocals with plastic frames, $10 for the frame, $39 for bifocals with lines.
