The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsGreat - more icy stuff coming down on Flint. My cabin fever is turning toxic!!
The weather map shows a field of blue, which should indicate snow but I was just outside, shoveling my front walkway. That wasn't snow pelting down on my head. Fortunately, it doesn't look like it's going to be nearly as bad as the last round.
I've been without a car for going on 4 weeks, right now. Now sure why it's taking so long, but I'm female and a Democrat (obvious from my bumper stickers) and my mechanic is a rabid republican. So, I suspect I'm not a priority. My wonderful neighbor (who is also a Republican, but one of the old school type who really dislikes trump*) just cleared my driveway (my snowblower is dead, too) and my brother is supposed to bring me some snow melt but that's likely not going to happen today, either. I'd rather he stay off of the roads, for the time being.
This has been a really bad, stress filled Winter so I'm thinking I might just spend the day wallowing in a big, bubbling pool of self-pity read DU and watch Turner Classic Movies.

I agree though, it's been a long crappy winter .... I hope that you get your car back soon .... I'm sitting here looking at rain and sleet myself.
Reading DU has been my salvation the last couple months! So many good comments and articles from like-minded folks!

(26,315 posts)This pelting stuff isn't coating trees, at this point, and temps, today, might hit the mid to upper 30's so hopefully the roads won't get too awful. Schools are closed, yet again. They will definitely go into an extended school year.
I really want to get my car back, even if it just sits in the garage. I HATE this feeling of dependence on others.

(22,793 posts)East side of Detroit to Farmington Hills. And a road full of assholes in SUVs who think they can do anything. A guy tried to pass me and I saw him spinning out behind me, heading for the shoulder of the highway. It made me smile.
