Our last dog spent a lot of years as a guard dog in a work yard. When we brought him to our home he had no idea what to do with a toy. He quickly learned and we couldn't resist buying him a LOT of new toys. He'd go over to one of his baskets of toys and select one and we'd play and then we'd tell him to get his NEW toy, and he'd go get the last one we bought for him.
Dogs are pretty smart, and he was certainly above average.

Totally neurotic about toys. He'd never had one. He even discovered an old basketball in the backyard, and would spend hours rolling it around.
