Do you prefer coffee or tea?

Or do you dislike both and prefer another warm drink like hot chocolate or hot apple cider. Personally, I only drink coffee when I'm at work and need to wake up. I hate the taste so I have it with lots of cream, milk, or mixed with hot chocolate. I never drink coffee outside of work. I like tea a lot and have tons of different kinds in my home. I even have a little sugar container with square lumps of sugar for my tea.

Pu-erh tea (pronounced POO-air) is the most oxidized form of tea, often aged, and sometimes very expensive. Unlike other teas, which get stale over time, pu-erh can mellow and improve with age like fine wine. Some pu-erh teas are more than 50 years old, and rare pu-erh teas sell for many thousands of dollars in Asian specialty stores. (I buy the bit less expensive )

Pu-erh teas come from China’s Yunnan Province and are named for a city in southern Yunnan. These teas are highly valued in China where the processing methods have been a well-guarded secret for centuries. Pu-erh’s distinct flavor comes from the fact that after the leaves are picked, they are made into a sundried base tea and then fermented...

I haven't tried it yet. It came in a pretty box with (not surprisingly) Chinese characters on it. Unfortunately, I left that job so I can't ask him. He would travel to Asia every month for a couple of weeks.

Pu-erhs are in the "dark tea" (as opposed to white, green, or black) category and are very high in oxalates. If you have had or have a propensity for kidney stones, I wouldn't recommend drinking it regularly (or even black tea).

I put the heater coils all on one circuit, which I can control with a router control (a high wattage dimmer). The fan is powered separately with an 18v laptop power supply, so it is always on. Being able to adjust the coil temperature separate from the fan is a game-changer.

The problem with most hot air methods at home is the batches tend to be small. I built a roasting chamber out of a stainless trash can for my gas grill. I could do a pound at a time.

Now I just use mail order mostly.

When I did mornings in radio I'd go through at least a pot of coffee before anyone else even showed up at the station. Now I drink about a half cup weekday mornings, and a full cup on weekends.

My wife makes up for me. She drinks gallons of tea, and most of one shelf in our pantry is covered with boxes of tea of various kinds and flavors.

I buy whole bean and grind it. I love coffee but only want it in the morning...2-3 cups. Milk and sugar. Favorite variety, Kenyan. Ethiopian is a close second.

Unless it’s Irish coffee , which I love after dinner.

However, if I have a cold, I prefer tea all day long.

We've been using the pour over method for almost 40 years. We started with a sock and now use a Chemex system. Responsibly grown, Sumatran (most often) beans, imported and roasted by our friend up the street, conically hand ground, 14/15:1 ratio, first pour is always a small bloomer, after that depends on quantity.

And then? Black for me, a little milk or cream for Mrs. yonder. A fun way to start the day.

Especially iced tea in the morning because I drink it black. I make my own cold brew iced tea at home and it's much smoother and less bitter than anything you would get at Starbucks or Dunkin' or any place else, although I will drink brewed iced tea if cold brew isn't available. I used to drink a lot of iced coffee but it just bothered my stomach too much and made me nauseated so I quit completely.

I like hot (black) tea with milk and a little sugar, but that tends to be a more relaxing, soothing drink for me, so I have it in the afternoon or evening. I also like herbal tea at night. I love Rooibos tea as well. I am not a huge fan of green tea, for some reason it nauseates me as well - not sure why.

One of my favorite teas is black tea with rose petals or some other kind of floral essence. I find it just heavenly. There are so many varieties of tea, it's really fun to sample them all.
