I am a 4th generation Texan and an OWL (old white lady). But even way back when I was in college,

there was the expression in a "New York minute". Just saw it in one of the post here and was wondering if it was universal. Here is some google info: Johnny Carson once said, it's the interval between a Manhattan traffic light turning green and the guy behind you honking his horn.

It appears to have originated in Texas around 1967. It is a reference to the frenzied and hectic pace of New Yorkers' lives. A New Yorker does in an instant what a Texan would take a minute to do.

The problem with that date is that I remember it before 1967.

I grew up in the upper plains and it was pretty common there. That was a few decades ago.

The Don Henley song came out 30 years ago; that might have further popularized it.

If you wanted to be an artist or artist type, it was where one headed. Richardson was my home.

That was the most money I had ever spent on food lol (we were barely 18). It was fun but we never went back. I lived at my friend's house for a long while in between high school and growing up (well, I may still be working on that.) I had a pallet on the floor in his room. But his mom was an art teacher at the local High School and encouraged us to draw and paint. She called us bohemians and I remember having to look that up but being perfectly fine with it once I did. He sells his watercolors and photography online now and while I don't make a living doing art, I do still have fun doing it.

nuisances of us southern feminists. I have rw women come up to me on the street out of nowhere based I guess on my OWL appearance and start asking me to join their weird church or some other group they are a part of. Hearing my mom in my ear I try to be polite but want to scream they they are programmed idiots and to please leave me alone.
