3. Smart horsepeople wear helmets riding. However, this is Texas where rights trump brains.

Paved surfaces hard on horses, I think. (Note: I'm not a horse person so I might be the horse's ass.)

When his horse slipped on a paved street. Of course, his friend wasn’t wearing a helmet, either.

With horseshoes, the horse has less traction on blacktop but they protect their feet from chips, cracks and excessive wear.

I would make my daughter wear a helmet no matter where she was riding.

are on English saddles and the horses are outfitted more for dressage riding than western riding. Just an observation.

No Lone Star flag in evidence, so how do we know? I've seen local riders in either rig on the town streets where I used to live in NC. Although our community wasn't upscale enough for a downtown Starbucks, the ice cream parlor was very popular with riders.

Funny, my daughter did both English and western riding at different times and the English riding lessons were so much more emphatic about wearing a helmet. Those girls were obviously not listening.
