Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsDoes anyone know what happened to the Lancome company's product of face makeup called
"Imanance"? I've used it for years and now am running out. I always got it at a local small department store called Bon Ton. It's gone too.
Maybe women aren't buying makeup we used to call base makeup. What has taken its place if that is so?

(3,276 posts)and it looks like they've discontinued the Imanance line. It seems to be pretty much unavailable anywhere, unless you luck out on E-bay.
I think looking for "foundation," rather than base makeup, will get you what you want. There are still lots of them around, but you have my sympathy in trying to replace something that's worked for you for years.

(63,912 posts)Since our BonTon stores are no longer in business around here I think I'll call my dtr in Boston. she still has access to a couple of dept. stores (altho they might be gone, too). I'm thinking about Bloomingdale's. She used to have one near her...

(10,885 posts)so it may be a goner. Don't you just hate when companies abandon long-used products without notice?
Have you tried any of the Estee Lauder products? Perhaps you can find an equivalent.

(50,557 posts)The whole name of this stuff is "Imanance Tinted Day Creme SPF 15." So, it's a tinted moisturizer, aka "a very light foundation."
The new "thing" in the lightweight-foundation market is BB cream. Try this:

(82,849 posts)A little joke that I believe CTyankee can appreciate.
I don't know about makeup, but there are companies that specialize in providing reproductions of discontinued perfumes. I got a small bottle of something called Tea Rose that my girlfriend used to use. It had the same smell, but by the time I bought it for her, she no longer cared for the fragrance. Maybe there's something similar for orphaned makeup?

(82,849 posts)Way back in the beforetimes, before the internet, Alberto VO5 had an ad featuring a "model" named Rula Lenska. The ads depicted her as the toast of various runways, receiving lush bouquets of flowers, and cheered by adoring audiences. For those of us not in the fashion world, it seemed she was some European glamour girl, and you felt uncultured not knowing who she was, but it was obviously some kind of coup for Alberto to get her as the face of their product.
Rula was not, strictly speaking, a model, but an actress who specialized in playing the last scion of doomed eastern European royalty. I figured a joke of her hoarding the last precious bottles of Imanence would play well, but after taking the time to type out this incredibly long and tedious explanation, I fear the joke has died a-borning.
Rula Lenska continues to work here and there, and if you're bafflingly interested in more about her, she has a website (of course) :
