Two years ago, Waterstones, a bookstore in Carmarthen, Wales, bought in five copies of Welsh Scrabble. Two years later, not one has been sold.

To me, Welsh seems to be a "phlegm-y" language... Your thoughts? I offer you Newyddion 9 (the 9 O'clock news) as previously aired on S4C (BBC Cymru does the news for S4C).

Dark and brooding but thoroughly enjoyed the 3 seasons available, Fourth season not yet released to Netflix. Am fascinated with the ruggedness and beauty of the Wales countryside and shorelines.

(10,885 posts)A lake in nearby Webster, MA, has a challenging name:
Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.
From Wiki: "This has been translated as "boundary fishing place", but something close to "fishing place at the boundary" or "that which is a divided island lake" may be more accurate. <snip> The humorous translation is: "You fish on your side, I'll fish on my side, and no one shall fish in the middle". It is the longest name of any place in all of the United States.
