I actually do and love the opportunity to show off that I know this trivia!

I have heard of it, I know it shows up in Brit Mysteries, but can't put my finger on it without googling.

Why do I need to know this? I don't. Should I?

I don't know and don't care because trivia doesn't interest me.

I have a lot of strange thoughts when I am falling asleep, and often they involve words/names I can't think of, because I am of that age that my brain doesn't do that well. Usually the next morning, the answer is in my brain, but sometimes I have to google the word to remind myself.

In this case, I knew it was like Tonto, but couldn't retrieve it until the next day.

What bugged me, was that two of the smartest word people I know, one of whom is a Brit mystery fan, didn't recognize the word at all.

So I needed to know...is this board as smart as I think it is?

And by the response....even smarter!!

So pleased....purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

The books were written by Thomas Costaine published in 1955. Didn't read when it first came out as I was too young, but probably 10 or 12 years later (a long time ago!). I loved them. I seem to recall that while they were two books, they were published as one volume. A couple of years ago I thought about how much I enjoyed reading it and I wondered if it was really as good as I remembered or was I just too young to have been able to evaluate it. So, I went to the library to find it. Not found in local library and not found in regional library system. So my local library set out to get an inter-library loan. They found it in a small town in California (I'm in Washington) I was able to check it out for two or three weeks (don't remember). And yes, in about 2015, I enjoyed reading it again. Wouldn't exactly call it great literature, but enjoyable just the same.

Thomas B Costain was a wonderful author of historical novels and a non fiction series "The Plantagenets" that reads like a novel.

I have read 8 of his books.

AKA"What Mrs. McGillicuddy saw". It starts with elderly Mrs. McGillicuddy witnessing a woman being strangled in the train running on the track next to hers. She reports it, but no body is found in any train, so she enlists her friend Miss Marple to find out what happened.

I'm pretty sure it includes a dictionary definition of Tontine.

amused us all to no end during the more challenging episodes of untangling dear brother's financial problems.

In the end we didn't go that route but I'm considering a tontine over go fund me for my soon to be announced decision on running for President.
