Attn World we are going to prank on this approved prank day.
Come April 1, (generic wacky shit). Oh damn, you got me.
There's enough bullshit online and in the infotainment world. Do we really want to muck it up so bad on one special day that it's more of a waste than it is other days?
It's about as much fun as if the government had given out 380 million handshake buzzers only to be used on one day a year. Now there's a hundred million jackasses running around trying to shake strangers' hands.
As someone who enjoys comedy, let me tell you, this ain't it.
(Rant off)
Why so negative Buttercup?
I have to plan a trip to Paris and I don't want to go. I get one break this year and I have to fly economy class from Florida to Paris ( I'm 6'5" and just love the idea of 12+ hours on a plane only to end up in freakin France where I have zero idea of where to stay or what to do). Ugh, I'd literally rather give myself a root canal with an underpowered hand drill.

(16,423 posts)I mean, people are naturally suspicious of anything remotely weird on April 1st, so they won't get fooled anyways.
Although I have to say that once fell really bad for someone else's prank.
"Come on! How can you write that! That's totally wrong! And that's unsubstantiated! And I have never heard of that before! That's ridiculous! How could you write that!!!"
It was only several hours after my freak-out that I realized that I've been had.

(16,646 posts)Fly to Paris through JFK, it breaks up the trip a bit.
As for Paris, if you don't plan on leaving the city, it's an excellent "Foodie" town. Go to Rue Mouffetard during lunch time. You'll gain 5 lbs just smelling the food. You can go up to to Montmarte too, although it's a bit touristy up there. Paris also has several large parks worth a walk. And of course it has some well maintained churches as well. I hear it has some famous museum or something, but I've never been in because the lines too long. Same for that tower someone built. You can swing by Moulin Rouge if you're so inclined.
If you go outside of Paris, you might find the beach at Normandy interesting. Also St. Marie Eglise. There's also Versailles which is both an indoor and outdoor visit if so inclined. There's a cemetery a bit out of town as well but Trump didn't like it so take that for what it's worth.

(39,343 posts)My family wants to go but they don't know anything about Paris besides the Eifel Tower. Oh, my kid gets bored at museums where you just look at stuff. The Smithsonians in DC were miserable to walk through for them.
I'm looking online a bunch and it just looks like a giant pain in the ass. There's the Yellow Vests and the huge expense in going. There's the food that I know she won't eat. I'm on a restrictive diet and stay away from bread and dairy.
I'm just being an asshole because they can tell I don't want to go. I'd much rather go someplace fun but they just want the idea of "Paris" and have no idea about anything else. Paris is not where I want to blow a week and several grand just so we can say we went to Paris.

(16,646 posts)I call that "Trophy Tourism". You go to some place you know almost nothing about, get your picture taken in front of some landmark that has little if any meaning to you. Then you go eat at a place with lousy food with funny sounding names from a place that no local would ever eat. Then you go hang out at the pool.
Oh, don't tell the kids about "Euro Disney" (or what ever they call it these days). You'll get to go to a place across the ocean you could have gone back home.
Quite honestly, your best bet might be to do Paris for about a day or two mostly to get over jet lag, and then take a train down to Cannes. Beaches, lots of window shopping, alot of expensive boats, and you can day trip to Monaco (more boats, more beaches, and extremely fancy casinos). Mostly, you'll keep everyone moving around taking alot of pictures before moving on.

(90,764 posts)No punchline to follow. She really was buried on April 1st.
Sort of sucked all the meaningless mirth out of the day for me.

(115,683 posts)I remember having a lot of fun with some harmless pranks when I was a kid. As a grownup it's kind of meh; takes a lot to amuse me with that kind of thing now.
