Happy 100th Birthday Liberace!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberace

Władziu Valentino Liberace (May 16, 1919 – February 4, 1987) was an American pianist, singer and actor. A child prodigy born in Wisconsin to parents of Italian and Polish origin, Liberace enjoyed a career spanning four decades of concerts, recordings, television, motion pictures, and endorsements. At the height of his fame, from the 1950s to the 1970s, Liberace was the highest-paid entertainer in the world, with established concert residencies in Las Vegas, and an international touring schedule. Liberace embraced a lifestyle of flamboyant excess both on and off stage, acquiring the nickname "Mr. Showmanship". </snip>

I was 8 years old and when I got home from school each day I turned on the tv and watched the one channel we got, which included shows by the Mills Brothers and Liberace. It was quite an entertaining education!

Had the audience in the palm of his hand.

I lost it over the tiny candelabra.

Sadly, the only thing that I remember was his white ermine cape. It was pretty amazing.

I also saw Elvis and Sigfired & Roy, because that was the entertainment my parents loved. They did not care for the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin or Sammy Davis Jr....sigh....
