(4,483 posts)answer a question, just for giggles.
He has changed the game forever. Those teacher were such a yawn, and they seemed so stupid. When James goes, I think Alex Trebek should resign. Since he's ill, he must be planning to retire sometime soon--what better time to leave when James does?

(4,483 posts)I don't think James isn't likeable; I think he's a charming young man who has spoken fondly (and gratefully) of his grandmother and godmother. The quirky amounts of his bets are endearing, too--he's obviously got some kind of superstition about lucky numbers (or birthdays and other significant dates), and that's fun to watch (914 seems to come up as lot as the last digits of his bets). I find him immensely likeable, and I would rather have a beer with him than Ken Jennings any day.
And no matter that James bets smart, clearing the high-value questions early (I've often wondered why contestants didn't do that; it's not like the high-value questions are that much harder than the low-value ones), and has mastered the timing of buzzing in, the fact remains that he has an immense store of knowledge and is able to access it within a second. I think he's done nothing but make a stuffy game a lot more fun. I was never a fan of the show until I heard about him. Now we record it every evening (can't take the commercials).
