I'm watching lions, tonight, and I've got photos.

There is a video live streaming camera set up at the Djuma Dam in South Africa. Sometimes when I just need a break, I tune in. Tonight the local lions managed a buffalo kill, and they are coming down to the water, one by one, to quench their thirst. I think it is beyond amazing that I can sit in my den, in Michigan, and watch this taking place, as it happens.

The safari stream has been on a break, but starts up again, at midnight, eastern standard time. They run a warning, before the stream starts, that there could be animal kills or carcasses, during the drive. I've seen births, matings, deaths, and all sorts of animal activity taking place.

and my beloved wild rabbits, occasionally squirrels, but more often unaware kitties or little dogs. I have ritual burial "bush" for what remains in a wetland area nearby.

So, while I am pragmatic, it is no less hard on me. But, still, I love these animals, including their predators.

You should post the link for the webcam.

This site lists both the camera, and the drive links. The 'dam cam' runs 24/7 unless it is down for maintenance. Right now the dam is home for 2 hippos. (Djuma is in South Africa. )

The safari drives (courtesy of SafariLive) run twice a day. Eastern Standard Times are: Sunrise Safari is from 0:00 to 3:00 and the Sunset Safari is 9:00 to 12:00. And they archive the drives on YouTube. Some times they are pretty blaaaa but other times they are overflowing with all kinds of animals and animal activity. They also broadcast via Twitter and YouTube. When they were still affiliated with NatGeo they also went live on FaceBook, and if something exciting was spotted 'off drive time', they did a live broadcast. I saw some breathtaking migration crossings, this year. Not sure if they are still doing that because NatGeo ended the affiliation so they are looking for more, new partners. They just did a temporary broadcast with a Chinese broadcaster, and it was wonderful to watch.

Ok, enough promoting. Here's the link: https://www.djuma.com/djuma-waterhole/
